                                                                                                      Job Description:
                                                                                                      Quinsigamond Community College is seeking student-centered faculty and staff who are committed to the community college mission and actively engaged in promoting diversity.  
                                                                                                       
                                                                                                      SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  
                                                                                                      The full-time faculty member reports directly to the Dean of Instruction for Math and Social Sciences.  
                                                                                                       
                                                                                                      SUPERVISION EXERCISED:  
                                                                                                      The full-time faculty member exercises supervision over any personnel assigned to him/her.  
                                                                                                       
                                                                                                      EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
                                                                                                      1. Teach a full-load of college-level history courses, including world history, employing a range of instructional methods appropriate to students with varying learning styles and abilities.  
                                                                                                      2. Develop and apply assessment strategies that optimize student learning and measure outcomes in history.  
                                                                                                      3. Actively participate in ongoing review of history curriculum.  
                                                                                                      4. Serve as academic advisor for students in accordance with the MCCC Contract  
                                                                                                      5. Participate in college service activities, including committee work, in concert with the provisions of the MCCC Agreement.  
                                                                                                      6. Actively support the teaching and learning process; practice honesty and integrity in and out of the classroom; strive to create and support a student-centered environment while fostering academic innovation and excellence.  
                                                                                                      7. Work actively within the college to provide a spirit of collaboration, collegiality, civility, and teamwork throughout the college community, while respecting the function of dissent in an academic institution.  
                                                                                                      8. Embrace the ideals of diversity and inclusiveness supporting the equal rights of all people, while advancing the understanding and appreciation of differences among people whether due to age, race, gender, ability, religious convictions, socio-economic status, ethnic heritage, or sexual orientation.  
                                                                                                      9. Provide flexible, responsive, and high quality service to students and other members of the campus community.  
                                                                                                      10. Perform other duties as assigned.

                                                                                                      Requirements:
                                                                                                      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  
                                                                                                      1. Master's Degree in History or in Area/ Cultural Studies with major emphasis in History.  
                                                                                                      2. Experience in post?secondary teaching and/or training adult learners.  
                                                                                                       
                                                                                                      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  
                                                                                                      1. Academic work emphasizing world, African, Latin American, or Asian history.  
                                                                                                      2. Graduate work in history beyond Master's degree.  
                                                                                                      3. Familiarity with current trends in field of history.  
                                                                                                      4. One full year or equivalent teaching history at the secondary level or higher, preferably in a community or technical college setting.  
                                                                                                      5. Documented examples of curriculum / course development and assessment in history.  
                                                                                                      6. Demonstrated track record in innovative, non-traditional modes of instruction and instructional delivery, including team-teaching, on-line learning and/or service learning.  
                                                                                                      7. A clear understanding of the role of community colleges, their students and mission.  
                                                                                                      8. Evidence of understanding of and appreciation for diversity and multiculturalism.  
                                                                                                      9. A predisposition to working in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork.  
                                                                                                      10. Strong evidence of commitment to excellence in working with students, faculty, and staff, and in responding to opportunities that extend the Mission of the College.  
                                                                                                      11. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.


                                                                                                      Additional Information:

                                                                                                      SALARY:  
                                                                                                      Salary is commensurate with MCCC/MTA salary schedule and dependent upon such factors as education and experience. Minimum starting salary for Master's level candidate is $41,470. Full salary range is $41,470 to $92,555.
